Commercial Animal Establishment Permit — If you have a pet shop, boarding stable, boarding kennel or a business that stocks and deals in live animal commerce, you must apply to the supervisor of Animal Health and Public Safety for a Commercial Animal Establishment Permit. The application will be provided by Animal Health and Public Safety at 4900 Swope Parkway, first floor. There is a $100 annual permit fee. There is an annual inspection prior to renewal. The operation must be zoned for that kind of business and be up to City code.
Domestic Animal Avocation Permit — For hobby kennels, hobby cattery or rescue kennel or rescue cattery. Permit is limited to no more than 10 total animals. This is a residential permit to allow the resident to have up to 10 dogs or 10 cats over 180 days old. You must get written consent from all owners and tennants of any lots that are within 150 feet of the applicants property for a hobby kennel and 50 feet for a hobby cattery. If the applicant seeks a rescue permit, they will also need to obtain a license from the state of Missouri. The City's Animal Health and Public Safety Division, located at 4900 Swope Parkway on the first floor, will provide the application. There is a $100 annual permit fee. There is a annual inspection of any of the applicants private property that is used for keeping animals prior to renewal.
Animal Show Permit — Any circus, stock show, rodeo, petting zoo, pony ride or animal display in the city of Kansas City Mo. must have an animal show permit. There is an inspection prior to issuance of the permit and a $100 permit fee due at that time. Only one permit and fee is needed as long as the same event is held on consecutive days.
